Welcome to the Inland Empire Kids Outdoors social network! In the spirit of Children and Nature Awareness Month (April, 2011), we decided to branch out a bit and expand our reach within the Inland Empire. Our social network provides a myriad of ways to get outside, from a calendar of public, family-friendly outdoor activities to a variety of groups and forums that connect local families to nearby nature.
Our social network is user-driven resource for families. You can join a group and connect with other local families or simply keep an eye on the calendar to find places to visit on your own. No matter how you choose to use the Network, find some time this month to take your family outdoors!
If you would like to connect with like-minded families and join IEKO on regular outings, please join us on at http://www.meetup.com.iekidsoutdoors. This is our member-based site where families can sign up and join us on meetups. We do not charge membership dues.
Click on this link for a summary of why we decided to create both a social network and a Meetup group: IEKO%20letter.pdf

Inland Empire Kids Outdoors spans a huge geographic area and it is often difficult for families to drive long distances to attend events. If you would like to start your own local nature club, feel free to use the Groups feature (located on our main page) as a starting place. Use the Groups as a way to connect with local parents and get organized. If you would like to see a custom group, please e-mail us!
For more information about how to start a local Nature Club for Families, download the Toolkit!
Inland Empire Kids Outdoors was created after a local parent read Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv.
